process

Paul was contracted by Messenger International to help outfit a 2700 square foot facility for their productions. They film teachings, promotional material, and short films that are distributed throughout the world with the intention of “developing uncompromising followers of Christ who transform our world.”

During the initial construction phase, Messenger International worked with a commercial contractor, and provided knowledgeable personnel to manage the construction. Paul operated as a consultant and project manager to ensure information was being relayed, and production facility requirements were being addressed. Some of these details included: layout of the facility; power requirements for lighting, camera, audio and video village; installation of the lighting grid and cyc wall; intentional room for storage of all studio gear; suggestions for audio; and set size recommendations.

The lighting grid, set flats, and cyc wall were built and installed by Access Media Group based in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Chris Douglas and Chad Pulscher made sure to use the right materials for the job; thinking through the variables needed to build safe, reliable, quality products.

After the set walls were completed, the flooring was installed by Allan Nygren of Messenger International, Joel Yanke of Dandy Media and Paul. The first teaching Messenger International was going to film needed a bright office feel, so after discussion, Paul painted the back wall white and wallpapered one of the side walls.

Paul purchased, assembled, and installed the storage room shelving, workbenches, and security cabinets, as well as studio lighting and grip gear, throughout the building of the set flats and cyc wall.

As it became time to outfit the podcast room for recording, Paul presented ideas for different furniture, and decor. Once they approved the items, he purchased, built and installed each piece, including sound panels to help with the acoustics of the room.

After a few finishing touches, Phillips hue bulbs in the podcast room and under cabinet lighting in the storage room, this completed the project management and outfitting of the studio for Messenger International.

Throughout the project and since completion, Paul has had the privilege of serving as Cinematographer and Camera Operator on several of Messenger International’s courses. To see Messenger’s courses, visit: messengercourses.com.
