Nomadic Narrative

Driving toward the city from the airport, I lost count of the cranes that topped new construction. Walking around the city there are new buildings, or I should say skyscrapers, popping up at every corner. The rapidly emerging glass towers reminded me of the Superman movie when giant crystals burst out of the ground.

This radical topographic transformation has led me to make wild and absurd speculations. When so many construction projects are stalled around the world, how is Panama moving ahead 24 hours a day? Clearly aliens are landing. And, they are coming in droves.

This picture was taken last week from the roof of the Hotel Intercontinental Miramar Panama. The entire waterfront is being transformed. The project is called the Cinta Costera.

This picture was also taken last week from Casco Viejo, the old city
which is also undergoing a major transformation. The downtown area pictured
above can be seen in the background.
