Lost in Paradise
I think this is the longest gap between posts I’ve had. In paradise, it seems as though I never know what day it is, and neither does anyone else. After a great nap today, I was wondering what I might have learned on this trip.
What immediately came to mind was how there’s nothing better than having a home-like place to stay when you’re traveling. I’ve come to appreciate that a little more this time in Bocas del Toro. I’ve been on-the-go this trip reviewing high-end hotels around the islands. I have of course loved every single minute spent in these luxurious places. Though, the best nap I’ve taken yet was in my regular haunt, the Hotel del Parque.
A family owned place, it’s comforting to see the same friendly faces. I love their fastidiousness for cleanliness, including making guests take off their shoes at the door. The hotel is a rickety, Caribbean-style structure typical of the area, and it sits directly in front of the town’s central park. The balcony on the front is great for people watching, while the back balcony with its two hammocks, something upscale resorts seem to skip, is the best place for lounging.
Between the sun, the sea and the nightly wine drinking, I haven’t been able to gather the wherewithal to post. Here are a few pics from the past week to catch up:
