The joys of blogging
I never anticipated that blogging would be so fun and inspiring. Blogging helps me appreciate life’s little subtleties that would otherwise most likely go unnoticed. Whether I’m visiting an exotic location or taking a trip to the grocery store, I keep my eyes open for interesting topics to write about. I think this is what slow travel is all about—taking the time to let it all soak in.
I also have a handwritten journal. I write stream-of-conscious and inevitably thoughts and ideas pop onto the page that I don’t recall ever having passed my mind. These are the ideas I take more time to develop into a blog post.
It takes time to sit down and write a post but it’s absolutely worth it. So many things happen throughout the day but when you have to stop and think, ok, what did I do today and what have I learned from it, you start to make sense of it all. The reflection process actually brings a bit of peace of mind.
I hope that those who read my blog will identify with some of my experiences, offer a comment, and also feel encouraged to become part of the intrepid-woman-traveler movement! After all, you don’t need to wade through swamps in the Bolivian Amazon to be an intrepid woman traveler. There are endless perspective-producing experiences right in your own backyard.
